Tips Mount Batur Trekking

Mount Batur is considered as an easy trekking side, not only because it only takes 2 hours to reach the summit but also because the climbing are not as hard as other mountains in Indonesia. The hiking usually starts at midnight, as people usually climb this mountain to see the sun rise.

Although the hiking is easy and appropriate for beginner, it doesn’t mean that you can slack off during the preparation as you still need to note the necessary items that you need during the climbing. Each person might need different equipment and preparations, but overall you need to pay attention to the general items that must be prepared before the actual day.

These are some of the tips that you might need to consider before hiking Mount Batur.

  1. Look for the weather. Although Bali is almost sunny all the year it doesn’t mean that i doesn’t has the worst season. Some of the day Bali might be too humid as the result of continuous rain that make hiking to Mount Batur difficult. Some people might still hike the mountain during wet season, but it might be too slippery and too dangerous for those who are only a beginner hiker. So, make sure that you go to Batur at the right time of the year, so you don’t have to face any unnecessary difficulties during the trekking.
  2. Appropriate clothes for hiking Mount Batur will include layers of clothing, although Bali is a tropical island but the temperature on month Batur might drop to single number at night. Most of the hiking will be conducted before the sun rise which is pretty sure that the temperature might be cold during the trekking. As you reach the summit, the temperature will be increase as you close to the Vulcanic so you can put down some of your clothes.
  3. Ding exercise before the hiking is also preferable to avoid any mistakes during the trekking. You can do walking, cycling and jogging to relax your muscly before the actual date. Although the hiking will only take about 2 hours, it is quite difficult as you climb. Doing exercise will at least help you to loosen up your muscle.

Another tips that you might consider is whether you want to hike alone or in a group.  Many professional hikers choose to hike Mount Batur by themselves because it is a short track, but it is not recommended for those who are not familiar with the region as you might lost in the middle of the jungle. Before arriving in Batur, it might be better if you book a hiking Batur program from the local tourist agency as they will provide you with local guide who understand the places as well as the historical background of month Batur.  Joining a group tor is not uncomfortable as one single group may only exist on 5 people only, so you can book a guide only for your family if you want to and the price is quite cheap.
